Answer
When using Windows 7 or Vista you have difficulty connecting to a WRAP using HSConfig. This stems from the driver architecture of Windows 7/Vista for NIC adapters. Windows 7/Vista fails to keep the driver open if it does not see layer 3 traffic. It also does not refresh Address Resolution Protocol changes properly.
Follow these steps:
1. Disable ALL ports except the one that is connecting to the router. This includes virtual device drivers.
2. Insure the port on your computer that you are using to connect has an IP address assigned to it
3. You may have to disable the firewall on the pc
4. If you use a VPN client (Cisco especially), you may have to disable that
5. Open a command prompt on your pc with administrator privledges and type the command "arp -d". This will flush the ARP cache.
6. You may want to turn off User Access Control (UAC). This really has nothing to do with the problem, but is an irritant when making changes like these.
7. Use the neighbor viewer or serial (with NULL MODEM) and configure the router by CLI if you can't get Ethernet to work.
8. Make sure that the NIC drivers you are using on your pc are up to date.

Over the last 4 days I was an exhibitor at the Defense Services Asia show in Kuala Lumpur. The show was a great success for us and our local partner XV Asia Technology with lots of interest from real customers with real money to spend on all of our products.
